Yogic Diet
for the Body

A six-week online workshop meeting once each week on Wednesdays 2:00pm to 4:00pm CDT from August 5th through September 9th to explore the infinitely intriguing topics of food, yoga, and mindfulness.

Each session is two hours:

– one hour of hatha yoga practice   

– one hour of workshop session

Session One – Moving Towards a Sattvic Life

  • Share your food story and identify your starting point using the gunas spectrum
  • Learn about the three gunas: sattvic, rajasic, and tamasic concepts/foods
  • Practice mindfulness in eating
  • Build your plant-based cooking repertoire 

Session Two – Nourishing Your Body with Healthy Foods

  • Learn about Dr. T. Colin Campbell and the scientific evidence of the China Study in support of a plant-based diet
  • Practice mindfulness in eating
  • Build your plant-based cooking repertoire

Session Three – Restoring the Planet, Restoring Ourselves

  • Discuss how food choices affect the planet and ourselves
  • Learn about how food choices and climate change
  • Practice mindfulness in eating
  • Build your plant-based cooking repertoire

Session Four– Ahimsa, Compassion, and the Heart

  • Discuss ahimsa and food choices
  • Explore the logic and ethics of eating meat
  • Practice mindfulness in eating
  • Build your plant-based cooking repertoire 

Session Five – Diet for Transcendence

  • Learn how food choices affect spiritual development
  • Explore the world’s religions’ take on diet
  • Practice mindfulness in eating
  • Build your plant-based cooking repertoire 

Session Six – Making the Change

  • Putting it all together
  • Complete a short feedback form 
  • Acknowledge yourself for your efforts
